Poland police plot attack on PM and defence minister

Police in Poland detained a man on Sunday in a suspected Poland police plot attack targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said on Oct. 11.

The arrest followed a tip that a coordinated assault was being prepared, prompting an emergency meeting of the national police, the State Protection Service (SOP) and the Internal Security Agency (ABW).

Kierwiński said the suspect was taken into custody for further questioning and that authorities are reviewing the information to determine whether additional threats exist.

No details about the alleged plot, the suspect’s identity or any weapons were released. Police have not indicated whether any other individuals are under investigation.

The incident underscores heightened vigilance by Polish security agencies amid ongoing regional tensions.
